3 Days Medieval Transylvania Tour

Day 1: Bucuresti – Curtea de Arges – Cozia – Sibiu
Departure from Bucharest to the Monastery Curtea de Arges built by the ruler of Wallachia Neagoe Basarab in 1514, representing an architectural monument. The tour continue with a visit at Cozia Monastery, first built by one of the first rulers of Wallachia, Mircea cel Batran between 1386-1388, and rebuilt later by some other rulers. This visit will be followed by lunch in a traditional Romanian restaurant. In the afternoon we head to Sibiu, which was a German medieval citadel, with the first documentary attestation in 1191, and the old name Hermanstadt. After a walking tour in the old town (the historical center of Sibiu) we will have a traditional dinner & accommodation.
Overnight in Sibiu.

Day 2: Sibiu – Biertan – Sighisoara – Brasov
After breakfast, departure from Sibiu to the village Biertan & visit at the biggest fortified church in Transilvania, built between 1490 – 1524 (the fortified church Biertan). Later, we are going to the medieval citadel Sighisoara, having a documentary attestation dating back in 1280, and the old German name Schassburg, being in the present the only medieval citadel in Europe still populated (UNESCO heritage). A walking tour of the citadel & visit in The Clock Tower (for an interesting panoramic view) will be followed by a lunch. In the afternoon, we head to Brasov, another medieval citadel, with the first documentary attestation in 1235, and the old name Kronstadt (maybe the most important from all German medieval citadels in Transilvania). After a walking tour in the old town (the historical center of Brasov) will be a traditional dinner & accommodation.

Day 3: Brasov – Bran – Sinaia – Bucuresti
After breakfast, visit in the Black Church, first built in 1383, the most important tourist objective in Brasov. Later we head to Bran (Dracula’s) Castle, with visit followed by a traditional lunch. After lunch, we are going to Sinaia (a beautiful mountain resort) to visit Peles Castle (built by the first king of Romania, Carol the 1st) in a very beautiful architectural style starting with 1875, until 1914, to be a summer residence for holidays. In the end of the day, the last visit will be at Sinaia Monastery (The Old & The New) followed by driving back to Bucharest.

Important Information
Peles Castle will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in February and March 2020. For Saturday and Sunday departures, the tour will be done in reverse order.
