Our hike gets off to an amazing start at the Vista do Rei (King’s viewpoint). Survey the landscapes in front of you over the caldera of Sete Cidades, and learn all about its fascinating geological formation. We set off on a dirt path along the rim of the crater, with the landscape unfolding in front of your eyes, and the famous twin lakes to the left and beyond. The trail ends in the village of Sete Cidades from where we head to the bottom of the crater to see the sparkling lakes up close.

Have a picnic in incredible surroundings along the mystic lake shore at the bottom of the crater. Relax and take in the scenery around you, in what is guaranteed to be a moving experience.

After lunch we go back to the past! Bake bread and biscuits, milk a cow, plough the earth and participate in traditional activities and games. Connect with nature and the island’s local traditions in what is a fun-filled day in São Miguel Island.
