One day trip to Toledo and Cuenca from Madrid

This trip will allow you to discover two of the nicest cities of Spain, both of them World Heritage and plenty of landmark buildings and monuments.

After an early start, your first visit of the day will be at Cuenca, one of the cities with more natural and cultural values in Spain, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Landscape around Cuenca is just amazing. Cuenca was built in a hill between the two sickles of Jucar and Huecar Rivers, and their cliffs and forest, give to Cuenca astonishment views. Cuenca has a vast cultural and arquitectonic heritage, but its mixture of nature and culture is that make this city being something else.

The Cultural Heritage of Cuenca has much of historic, but we will also find an interesting taste of modern art. Cuenca Historic City is made of narrow and winding streets. There we will find churches and convents, but also modern museums such like the one of Abstract Art or the Antonio Perez Foundation. The most prominent building of Cuenca is the Cathedral. Is the first Gothic Cathedral in Spain and was built by order of Alfonso VIII very influenced by his wife Leonor de Aquitania. In the Cathedral, we will also find the Sacred Art Museum, with important pieces of religious art. But the most famous landmark buildings in Cuenca are the Hanging Houses that also house the Abstract Museum inside of them. Near the Hanging Houses there are other buildings of interest, such as the San Pablo Bridge or the so-called "Skyscrapers of San Martín", all of them adapted to the cliffs of the Sickle of the Júcar River..

After the visit, you will have free time to have a coffee, discover other corners of the city or just shopping. We also offer you as an option a visit to the Cathedral of Cuenca. Then, we will have lunch (those who did not book lunch will find many options in the Plaza Mayor and around).

The trip goes on to Toledo City. This City was well know as the 3 cultures city, since Muslims, Jews and Christians lived and worked together in peace for centuries. We follow the Tajo River and stop in El Valle viewpoint to take some pictures. Then, we begin the guided walking tour in San Martin Bridge and go througt the Jewdish Quartier to de Historic Center.
In the Jewdish Quarter, we find the Sinagoge del Tránsito, the Sephardic Museum or The Greco Museum (with some of his most famuos paintings). Inside “Los Adarves” (the walls of the Jewdish Quartier), there were ten sinagoges. In the Middle Age, those Jews lived and worked toghether with Muslims and Christians, therefore Toledo was also known as The City of the Three Cultures.

Then, we will make a guided walking tour, starting in the Jewish quarter and visiting the main landmarks of the city. We will find the Cathedral Primada, the imponent Alcazar of Toledo and the Zocodover Square, here we finish the walking Tour and you will have some free time to enjoy this part of the city by yourself.

At 7:30pm, we start the trip back to Madrid, finishing a Tour that has taken us to two of the most beautiful and emblematic cities of Spain.
