Our first stop is Foix. The city is dominated by its magnificent castle which stands on a rocky outcrop, a testimony to the glorious past of this medieval town. With its imposing walls and three towers, it has defied wars and time.

As there is long drive, we do not stop in a restaurant. Please take a sandwich for a picnic. We then drive to the Château de Montségur, where during a1hr30 round hike I will tell you the dramatic story and tragedy of the Crusade against the Cathars which occurred in the 12th century. We then spend a relaxing lunch, enjoying the local cuisine.

Next stop is Mirepoix, a beautiful medieval village (it has an amazing outdoor market every Monday morning), the earliest mention of the place dates to the 10th century. Back to Toulouse.
